Tim Chakarian

Timothy Chakarian was born in Beirut, Lebanon and moved with his family to New Jersey for his grade and middle school years. His family relocated to Orange County for the high school years, where Tim attended auto shop for 4 years. He loved to go surfing every morning before school & soon found himself in the ROP program, gaining hands on experience working in a local hot rod shop. Tim moved to the San Diego area in his late teens and helped his uncle run a family restaurant on the waters edge. He lived there for a few years, and then moved up to the Los Angeles area where he got married & started his own family. He had 2 boys and knew he needed a stable career to support his young family.

Growing up, Tim had always loved to work on classic cars, building engines, and learning electrical diagnosis. He knew he loved cars, so he attended a local community college to get a start in his automotive career & become ASE certified. After attending school, he applied at a couple dealerships, and was ecstatic when the BMW dealership called him back. He started his career with BMW, had a thirst to attend all the training classers they offered, and in a few years he had enough time and training to earn his status as a BMW master technician.

Tim worked at the dealerships for over 10 year on both BMWs and MINI Coopers and toward the end of his career there, he felt they could offer a better customer experience and take better care the customers by providing education & knowledge . When his managers told him to just do his job and keep his ideas to himself, he decided it was time for him to branch out and try himself to give the customers a better experience. So he opened up Bimmer PhD in 2009, and he hasn’t looked back.

Bimmer PhD has grown from Tim, as a one man shop, to a team of amazing people who love to work together and have a passion for BMWs. Tim’s dream of offering customers a better than the dealership experience has come true. He is passionate about the automotive industry, about BMWs, and about taking care of the people.

Tim currently serves on the board of director as the President and State representative for chapter 5 of the Automotive Service Cousin of California ASCCA. Being involved with in the industry and ASCCA has taught him the importance of supporting local community college where he got his start. He gives back to his community by actively supporting the automotive advisory boards of Pasadena City College & Citrus Collage in Azusa. “Fixing cars is fun & rewarding” says Tim “but there’s nothing like the feeling of helping young people find their passion & learn to become amazing technician in our industry.”

“I’m totally blessed to be working with my awesome wife & my amazing team who give me the time & freedom to give back to the industry I love.” I know & believe in my heart once you experience the difference we make as a team to help folks understand auto repair, you won’t want to trust anyone else
